Introduction to your own portfolio WordPress site

Flash is ending and for many that means rethinking their website.

In this session, Sandra Starke will show the steps of putting a simple WordPress portfolio site together. We are going to follow the steps that lead to this test site, compiled from random member images and some content on Roger and Judith’s page:

We will look at the WordPress admin panel, the key ingredients ‘posts’ and ‘pages’ as well as how to add written content and images and customise a site.

Whether you decide to afterwards go ahead and make your own website or seek support, this session will give you the basics to make decisions. Smethwick is going to offer members their own simple WordPress website in 2021 in the style of the one outlined above (also used here:, where support is available to add images and basic content from Sandra Starke. The price is to be decided (around £40/year) with all proceeds supporting the club. It won’t be as fancy as Dave Airston’s or Dave Lowe’s of course but will have a simple but effective layout that you can easily fill with your content.

Zoom meeting starts at 7.30pm (members can join to chat informally).

Programme begins at 8.00pm.
