On Thursday 18th September Smethwick Photographic Society and guests will be treated to another round of stunning images and stories of the natural world:-
“Wildlife Photography Pt 2” with wildlife photography expert Tracey Lund.

Tracey Lund is an award-winning wildlife photographer based in Hull, England, with a deep passion for the natural world and an impressive portfolio of global adventures.

From Japan to Iceland, her work captures the beauty and behaviour of wildlife in all its forms, always with patience, precision, and heart. In 2024, she was named World Nature Photographer of the Year for her captivating underwater image of gannets off the Shetland coast.

Tracey holds Fellowships with the Society of Photographers (FSINWP), the BIPP, and several other international organisations, and has received top honours from the Sony World Photography Awards, FEP, MPA, SINWP, and One Eyeland’s list of the World’s Top Wildlife Photographers.

On Thursday 11th September Smethwick Photographic Society and guests will be treated to:-
“Further Confessions of a Competition Addict” with a competitions expert Robert Millin.

Robert started photography in 2009 and became addicted to the world of competitions, engaging in FIASP, BPE’s and PSA competitions as well as engaging with his club in National and International Club Competitions. 

He achieved FBPE and MFIAP in 2017 and went on to complete EFIAP/d3 three years later. He still competes in FIAP competitions and is active on the club, Federation, National and International judging circuit (Robert has judged both the Smethwick and Midland Internationals). Having been successful in the club world with his previous club (having helped win 2 FIAP World Cups, 7 FIAP Gold Medals for runner up and 8 FIAP Maurice Dorrikens Trophies as well as many PAGB National Championships he has now left that scene to pursue a more diverse range of photography that is not necessarily aimed at competitions. Robert’s talk will focus on his FIAP Journey covering 13 years and many different genres.

On Thursday 4th September Smethwick Photographic Society and guests will be treated to:-
“Stories Behind my Motor Sport Images” with our very own Dave Airston.

As lifelong photographer Dave has tried many genres of photography but always loved the thrill and excitement of motor racing, particularly Formula 1.

He has attended motoring events for more than 60 years and has built up a large collection of images of national and international competitions. These include F1, Le Mans, World Rally Championship, British, German and European Touring Cars and the Monaco Historique. He also covers many of the major domestic competitions and has attended Formula 1 tests and launches in this country and abroad. His talk covers the trials and tribulations that he has encountered along the way and the many stories he can now tell.
